We build solutions we want our own doctors to use
“We just wanted to build the best thing we could build. When you’re a carpenter making a beautiful chest of drawers, you’re not going to use a piece of plywood on the back, even though it faces the wall and nobody will ever see it. You’ll know it’s there, so you’re going to use a beautiful piece of wood on the back. For you to sleep well at night, the aesthetic, the quality, has to be carried all the way through.”
Steve Jobs gave the above example in an interview in 1985, long before the iPhone or even the Internet. When we build websites for medical practices, or the next feature for our next-generation patient portal, we carry it “all the way through” until it works the way we would want it to work when we interact with our own doctors.
Laying the Groundwork for Health 2.0
All Omedix software is built with key principles that we recognize as the future of healthcare. Social networking, user-generated content, mash-ups, a Web 2.0 philosophy on user experience, and acknowledgement that people communicate by PC, text message, and cell phone today all factor into how we engineer our products. The application of these concepts to healthcare has in turn inspired the Health 2.0 movement.
Healthcare is moving toward a community model where care is provided by a team of professionals within a community setting. Underlying our mission of helping our clients manage the complete patient experience lifecycle is the belief that this represents only the tip of the iceberg in how industry-leading Internet and mobile technology can impact healthcare and healthcare communities.
